Marks & Spencer has announced that it will be rolling out its paper fibre takeaway coffee cup to all M&S Cafes in April 2024.
Following the launch in 20 stores last year, from next month M&S said its paper fibre takeaway coffee cup, which it said is 100% recyclable in household and on-the-go recycling, will be available in over 300 M&S stores across the UK, including M&S Cafés, vended coffee points and Marketplaces within its Foodhalls.
The supermarket said the change is expected to remove over 20 million units of plastic from M&S’ Food business every year. Last year, M&S said it met its target to remove 75 million units of plastic in 2023/24.
The expansion follows the introduction of new recyclable paper packaging across the range of sandwiches and toasties available in all M&S Cafes earlier this year, which the supermarket said removed 4.5 million units of plastic.

With no impact to the taste or temperature of their hot drink – and now 100% recyclable – this is one of the ways we’re supporting our customers to make small changes in their everyday lives, which have a big impact on the environment.”
