JCB Announces One Of Its Biggest UK Deals Worth £55m

JCB has secured one of its biggest-ever deals in the UK – an order for more than 1,200 machines and a range of generators worth more than £55m.

A-Plant – a UK equipment rental company – has placed the huge order, which includes more than 600 JCB Loadall telescopic handlers and more than 450 mini and midi excavators, as well as JCB rough terrain forklift trucks, site dumpers, backhoe loaders and tracked excavators.

The deal is good news for JCB’s factories in Rocester, Uttoxeter and Cheadle, as well as Hixon, Staffordshire-based JCB Power Products, which is manufacturing a total of 162 generators ordered by A-Plant following its first-ever purchase of JCB units last year. The volume of generators bought is enough to power eight hospitals or 4,000 homes.

It means that in the last three years A-Plant has placed orders with JCB worth more than £140 million. All the latest purchases are being supplied through JCB dealer Greenshields JCB.

A-Plant Marketing Director Asif Latief said: “The latest products are more innovative, productive, safer, greener and more sustainable. We are delighted to have placed this Hadflatest order with JCB, which demonstrates our commitment to working with leading brands. It is part of our continual fleet investment programme which has seen A-Plant invest over £300 million during the last two years.

“Among the 1,300 pieces of new equipment, we will be supplying 162 generators – all fitted with JCB’s LiveLink telematics solution as standard – into A-Plant’s rapidly expanding Mather+Stuart Power Solutions division. Customers tell us that their number one priority is reliability, closely followed by availability and quality, so it is vital that we continue to meet these key requirements.”

Rider Is Realising Her Dreams With Help Of Wood Recycler

Dressage rider Clare Heap is going from strength to strength with her horse Teddy, after securing sponsorship from a wood recycler through a new grassroots equestrian scheme.

Clare has been sponsored by Hadfield Wood Recycler’s equine bedding brand easibed, through the Leg Up For Talent (LUFT) scheme which helps young, aspiring riders to realise their potential by matching them up with suitable sponsors.

Since receiving support from Hadfield, Claire has competed in the Inter Regionals, Midway Championships and is now in training for the beginning of the international level of dressage, Prix St George and the PetPlan Championships in August.

“I’m so pleased with Teddy since he’s been on easibed,” said Clare. “We’re getting 68% at advanced medium level and we haven’t been below 4th in these recent competitions. Being sponsored by easibed is helping me achieve my dreams of competing at Grand Prix level.”

Traditionally equestrian sponsorship is only available to higher levels of rider who guarantees media exposure for brands. LUFT recognised that young grassroots riders needed support to reach their goals and set out to marry up suitable riders and sponsors.

Vicki Hughes, Group Business Development Director for Hadfield Wood Recyclers, said: “We are delighted with our association with Clare and pleased to be part of this scheme. She has proved to be a fantastic ambassador for our bedding and actually genuinely likes it which makes it an even better partnership.”

easibed is a dust free wood fibre bedding which has been loved by horses and riders alike for more than 15 years. Its consistency means it is free draining and supportive. If used correctly, easibed saves riders time in mucking out and costs of replenishing bedding.

DAF Announces Latest Addition To Dealer Network

DAF Trucks has confirmed the appointment of the latest addition to its DAF Dealer network – DW Commercials in Dosthill near Tamworth.

The family-run DAF service and parts location has full ADR and Pet. Reg. capability, and is strategically located close-by to one of the UK’s principal oil terminals at Kingsbury, thus providing DAF operators of hazardous goods with a one-stop-shop aftersales facility.

DW Commercials becomes the 17th DAF Dealer across the UK and Ireland to provide dedicated services for Pet. Reg. / ADR operators. While the appointment satisfies demand from hazardous goods operators in Staffordhsire, further DAF Dealer points are strategically located at other primary oil refinereries and distribution hubs at Warwick, Spalding, Manchester and Deeside.

The steady spread of DAF Trucks’ ADR / Pet. Reg. network follows increasing demand from major customers in the hazardous goods sector, including Tesco and Turners (Soham).

DW Commercials commenced operations as a DAF Dealer on June 1st. The company had been a successful independent workshop in its own right since 2009, moving to their current site in 2012, and benefitting from support from local DAF Dealer, Greenhous DAF in Willenhall. Before that, husband and wife team, Daryl and Kate Winyard, started a mobile commercial vehicle service in 2006. Today, DW Commercials employs ten staff and boasts a five-bay workshop.

Following a 24-month upgrade programme, additional facilities include a new office, full-length commercial vehicle bays, and attendant ADR / Pet. Reg. equipment, thus bringing the location up to full DAF Networks standards.

Kiverco’s Robust Equipment Stands the Test of Time

Weir Waste has commissioned Kiverco to design, build and install a new Construction & Demolition (C&D) recycling plant at their Oldbury site.

The perfectly functioning 10-year-old Kiverco Pan Feeder and 830 Trommeln will be incorporated into the new plant.

A detailed project plan and installation programme was set in place, which enabled the new Weir Waste recycling plant to be erected, without the two key components. These were then removed from the existing plant, by Kiverco engineers, before being installed, on the same day, at the new location.

It was vitally important that the original plant was operating until the last possible moment, which would minimise downtime and loss of production.

These two components were tested to ensure their compatibility and their capability to work with the new plant. Needless to say, they passed with flying colours!

Jason Shaw Processing Manager at Weir Waste says: “When Weir Waste first located to the new site in Oldbury four years ago, we chose Kiverco to design, build and install a new semi-automated 25TPH Commercial and Industrial (C&I) Waste recycling facility.

“The plant has been instrumental to our growth and has contributed to the many contract wins we have enjoyed over the last 4 years. When it came for the need to install a new C & D line, there was only one choice.”
