Stockport Council has appointed environmental charity Keep Britain Tidy to undertake an environmental campaign that aims to increase recycling rates within the borough and increase awareness of local environmental issues.
Keep Britain Tidy will be focusing on changing behaviour and increasing public perception through a range of different initiatives focusing on dog fouling, street litter, fly tipping and encouraging even more residents within the borough to recycle.
Councillor Sheila Bailey, Stockport Council’s Cabinet Member for Communities and Housing, said: “We are looking forward to working closely with Keep Britain Tidy. As a Council we are hugely committed to further improving our recycling rates and improving the cleanliness of our streets.
“By further improving our recycling rates we can not only save the Council money, which can be used on other vital services but we can also help the environment too.”

Keep Britain Tidy Chief Executive Allison Ogden-Newton said: “We are delighted to be working with Stockport Council to increase recycling and tackle issues like dog fouling and fly-tipping.
