Green Rewards Donates Over £75,000 To Local Charities

UK sustainability engagement schemes, Green Rewards, has donated over £75,000 to charity this year on behalf of its members.

Green Rewards works with a number of corporate, local authority and university clients to provide bespoke services to engage and reward people for following sustainable and wellbeing behaviours.

The company has a proven track record of creating lasting behaviour change through a combination of web and app platforms, communications campaigns, face to face engagement and rewards and incentives.

As a reward for taking part, members of Green Rewards’ programmes can choose their favourite local charities to receive donations. This community approach has proven popular with members, who have donated over £75,000 in the last year.

Rebecca Lent from Bournemouth Food Bank (pictured) said, “The Bournemouth University finance team came in early August and donated £100 worth of food to the Food Bank. It was great to have them come and see our work and take them through how we sort and weigh donations and get them out to those who most need them most in the community. All the donations we receive are really appreciated and help us to keep providing emergency food and support to local people in crisis.”

Green Rewards’ schemes have been well-received and extremely successful, with some impressive results in energy savings, carbon reduction and improved recycling rates.

At Bournemouth University, over 45% of participants of the Green Rewards programme said they had increased their sustainable behaviour at work since signing up to the programme and 40% said they had improved their health and fitness.

Green Rewards has so far recorded over 1 million positive actions across all its client programmes, resulting in an average energy reduction of 8% per client, and an average of 307,590 km travelled sustainably.

Green Rewards’ clients’ programmes have also been nominated for 6 Awards this year, including BIFM Awards, the Better Society Awards, the Employee Benefits Awards, the Guardian University Awards, the Sustain Wales Awards and Edie’s Sustainability Leader’s Awards.

Graham Simmonds, Managing Director at Green Rewards said: “It’s been a fantastic year and it’s great to see our members donating over £75k to local charity projects as these donations are making a real difference for communities across the country.”

Charities supported in the last year include Mind for better mental health, Branches, Cancer Research UK, Trees for Cities, local Food Banks, Haven House Children’s Hospice and Hackney Migrant Centre.
