The Walk for WasteAid will take place on 20 June 2020 in both Bristol and Bingley, giving WasteAid supporters from the south west to the north east the chance to join the fundraising challenge.
The annual event raises funds to support waste and recycling in lower-income countries, and this year the focus will be to support two communities, in Cameroon and India.

All the sponsorship money raised will be used to help people in poverty to protect their health, and prevent pollution and climate change emissions.”

By sharing waste management and recycling skills, WasteAid is empowering people in poverty to create long-term solutions for waste, preventing it from being dumped and burned.
WasteAid is fundraising to support its plastics recycling training centre being built in Cameroon, and to launch a new partnership in India, introducing community-led waste management in rural villages in Rajasthan.
Lush and Leafy Bristol
Volunteer organiser Sally Talbot and the south-west team are planning an interesting walk around the historic and vibrant city of Bristol, taking in key sites over a challenging 15-mile route.
Sally Talbot said: “It is so great that on our fifth year of holding this important fundraising and awareness event, we will have two walks on the same day. Giving people a choice will mean even more people have the opportunity to join in and get involved with WasteAid.”
Legendary Yorkshire
Meanwhile, Gill Mulroe of recycling and waste management company Biffa is organising the Yorkshire event, which will take in 13 miles of the beautiful stretch of the Leeds Liverpool Canal from Bingley 5 rise locks to Skipton.
Gill Mulroe said: “It is wonderful to bring the Walk for WasteAid to Yorkshire and celebrate its fifth year. I will be collaborating with partners in the north to raise funds to support the great work WasteAid are doing worldwide. I hope this event becomes a future walk within Yorkshire and part of the North East CIWM annual event calendar.”
Zoë Lenkiewicz added: “We are hoping to break our fundraising record this year and attract sponsorship from a wide range of businesses and individuals. There is a lot of work to be done and by joining together we can amplify our impact.”
