Yotta partnership to deliver IoT asset management
EPM Solutions has announced it has signed a partnership agreement with Yotta to deliver connected asset management solutions to industrial and hazardous sector clients across the UK.
Under the terms of the partnership, EPM and Yotta will work together to enable clients and prospects to build connected internet of things (IOT) networks, incorporating and connecting their plant and infrastructure assets.
The solution offering will be based on Yotta’s next-generation connected asset management software suite, Alloy, but will also incorporate EPM’s asset identification, tagging and integrity approach, which is tried and tested across a wide range of sectors including; transport, waste management and oil and gas.
By enabling customers in these industries to monitor the condition of their assets by connecting with sensor devices, the use of Alloy will allow EPM to provide customers with the critical data they need to avoid catastrophic equipment failure or plant breakdown. It will also be key in helping deliver monitoring and measurement needed to ensure compliance with the latest industry regulations.
Highlighting support to those in need
In collaboration with the West Sussex County Council Community Safety team and the West Sussex Waste Partnership, EPIC Media Group has supplied and installed #YouAreNotAlone graphics on 35 district and borough refuse vehicles across Adur and Worthing, Arun, Chichester, Crawley, Horsham and Mid Sussex.
In May, UK charity Refuge, reported a 66% increase in calls to its domestic abuse helpline and a 40% spike in visits to its website.
In a challenging time with families confined to their homes, many people have spent more time living in close proximity with perpetrators of domestic violence with their lines of communication severely reduced through not being able to leave their homes.
The County Council’s Community Safety team wanted to promote that help is out there for anyone in an abusive relationship. They felt the refuse vehicles fitted with EPIC Media Group’s quick-change graphics system would be a simple and discreet way of letting victims know that there is help available in West Sussex.
Jim Bartlett, Contextual Safeguarding Manager at West Sussex County Council said: “During lockdown it has been easy for those suffering from domestic abuse to feel that they are on their own. It was important for us to get support details out to those who needed help as quickly and effectively as possible. The fleet of refuse vehicles across the county was a perfect communications tool to reach people’s doorsteps.”

Fife Council fits CMS camera system
Sandy Anderson, Service Manager, Waste Operations for Fife Council, took delivery of the CMS SupaTrak Connected Camera system in December 2019.
CMS SupaTrak’s all-round camera system includes live cameras covering forward, nearside, offside, and rear vision.
It also provides driver-facing cameras for display inside the cab that can be remotely monitored live via the SupaTrak system.
The 4 Camera ‘Live’ DVR function offers an instant live stream of all cameras installed on a truck within one window at the same time.
Sandy took delivery of six new Mercedes Benz Econic 6×2 RCVs rear steer with Heil Farid Powerlink 21 body and Terberg Omnidel bin lift in late December 2019, all with the new CMS SupaTrak camera system fitted.
“In the past, viewing CCTV from RCVs was very time-consuming, and involved removing hard drives from vehicles to attach to computers to then trawl through the footage.
The Connected Camera system enables operators to pinpoint the precise location of any images required, which are simple to download and view. The time saved is indisputable.”
Sandy is also pleased with the 4 Camera ‘Live’ DVR feature that enables users to view all the cameras at once, allowing for a clear view of the area surrounding the vehicle.
“This most recent update permits users to live stream all cameras at the same time, which means my managers can now carry out daily safety checks without leaving their office. The new functionality is an invaluable addition, especially with the pressures of the Covid-19 crisis.
Over the next four years, I will be looking to roll out this system to my entire fleet as new vehicles come online, and I look forward to any further innovations from CMS SupaTrak.”
SFS ‘Gold’ partnership with Bandvulc going strong after 26 years
This year marks 26 years since contract hire and fleet management company Specialist Fleet Services Ltd (SFS) first joined forces with Bandvulc to supply and maintain tyres for its customers.
Since then Bandvulc has become SFS’ key tyre partner, working closely on many of its local authority contracts including Teignbridge District Council, Epsom and Ewell Borough Council, Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council and Lichfield District Council.
