enfinium announces new 10-year agreement to supply its West Yorkshire Energy-from-Waste facilities with unrecyclable waste.
As part of the agreement, A1 Recycling and Renewables will supply unrecyclable waste from its materials recovery facility in Greater Manchester to enfinium’s Ferrybridge and Skelton Grange UK Energy-from-Waste (EfW) facilities in West Yorkshire.
enfinium says the new agreement allows it to strengthen its long-term fuel supply, divert waste from landfill, and generate energy.
The EfW company has five operational sites across the UK, in West Yorkshire, Kent and Flintshire, with one in construction.
Across its UK fleet, enfinium says it diverts around 2.7 million tonnes of waste from landfill each year, generating enough electricity to power approximately 600,000 homes.
Wayne Robertson, Chief Commercial & Strategy Officer at enfinium, said the agreement will provide a reliable outlet for unrecyclable waste from Greater Manchester while supporting the continued generation of energy from efinium’s facility in West Yorkshire.
“We look forward to building on the agreement and exploring further opportunities to work together in the future,” Robertson continued.
The agreement follows enfinium’s recent fuel supply agreement with REMONDIS UK to supply unrecyclable waste to its Ferrybridge 1 and 2 and Skelton Grange facilities in West Yorkshire.
Commenting on the agreement, Simon Ince, Managing Director of A1 Recycling and Renewables NW Ltd, said: “Having reliable and established energy from waste partners is essential to our operations, and this agreement provides us with the confidence to continue developing our business and supporting our customers.”
