Net zero

Optimo is an operational improvement consultancy, working with purpose-driven clients to improve their people engagement and productivity, process efficiency, technology optimisation and information management.

B Corp Certification is a designation that a business is meeting high standards of verified performance, accountability, and transparency on factors from employee benefits and charitable giving to supply chain practices and input materials.

Danielle Heward, Optimo’s Founder, was always determined to establish a new kind of business improvement firm. Disheartened by the damage done by mainstream business, she set about creating a company that would promote positive change by elevating those organisations making a genuine difference in the world.

Now, Optimo only works with clients that have a clear climate and social focus, helping them with operations, project and change management services.

It wasn’t long after starting her company, that Danielle discovered the B Corp movement, and knew it was something she wanted to pursue.

The decision to become a B Corp aligned seamlessly with Optimo’s core values and overarching mission and Danielle recognised that working with purpose-driven organisations.

Optimo also needed to demonstrate their own commitment to ethical practises.orn in Yorkshire, the same week as Yorkshire Day in 2023. Optimo has also stood proudly as a trailblazer in the region by being the first LGBTQ+ and female-founded consultancy in all of Yorkshire to achieve the certification.

Not only that, at the time Optimo were only one of only 20 female-founded and led consultancies in the whole of the UK with the B-Corp status.

The B Corp movement is fast-growing around the world and there are now over 2,000 B Corps in the UK, with a B Corp festival taking place in Oxford on 10-11 September.

With the waste and resources industry playing a huge role in making the world a better place, it’s not surprising that the certification is becoming popular in this sector too. It provides a great framework for improving ways of working and indicates to stakeholders that you run your business responsibly.

Since becoming B Corp, Optimo has seen an increase in new client work, improved talent attraction, and is even supporting other organisations to become B Corp by sharing their tips to operationalise the responsible business practices required to achieve certification.

From its stand (CT-F260) at this major sector show, the IEG team looks forward to greeting customers old and new, and sharing insights into its aligned portfolio of industry-leading brands that provide innovative solutions for a sustainable tomorrow.

Last year (2023), IEG bolstered its position in the UK, with two further acquisitions cementing the group’s position as a global waste industry category leader.

UK Container Maintenance (UKCM) and Capital Compactors and Balers (CCL) joined Container Components Europe (manufacturer of Duraflex lids), and Egbert H Taylor to sit within IEG’s UK-based portfolio of distinguished brands, providing a comprehensive suite of new and replacement products and services for waste/recycling containers, collection and compaction equipment.

The group plays an important role in the pursuit of a circular economy, providing products and services to the global waste and recycling industries. IEG is a procurer of top-quality materials and a key advocate for sustainability, whilst maintaining competitive prices.

At the show, visitors to the stand can expect to see the new and improved Taylor Continental Mark IV container. In developing the best-in-class collection, Taylor worked closely with customers and industry experts to respond directly to the sector’s requirements.

In addition to enhanced castor brackets to minimise stress points, highly durable castors and internal bash plates for reinforcement, the frontal receiver benefits from seven ribs for additional strength.

The robustness of the container, alongside its readiness to refurbish, solidifies the firm’s commitment to the circular economy and its drive to reduce not only its own carbon impact, but its customers’ too.
