Pact Retail Accessories has now become a member of the UK Plastics Pact, with a shared vision to ‘eliminate plastic waste’.
The UK Plastics Pact, led by WRAP, is the first of a global network of commitments, enabled by the Ellen MacArthur Foundation’s New Plastics Economy initiative.
Pact Retail Accessories Executive General Manager, Camillo Colombo said that committing to the UK Plastics Pact is an important step forward for the organisation in further progressing its vision of building the circular economy.
“Every business has a role to play in helping reduce the volume of plastic waste being sent to landfill and reducing its reliance on virgin materials. WRAP is an important partner in helping educate business, industry and government about the importance of the circular economy and the role we each play in building it,” said Mr Colombo.

“We are delighted to have Pact Retail Accessories sign up to The UK Plastics Pact. Through this world-first Pact we are working together with governments, citizens and business to transform the way we make, use and dispose of plastic so that we retain its value, but prevent it from polluting the environment,” said WRAP CEO Marcus Gover.
Headquartered in Australia, Pact Retail Accessories has grown its UK footprint in recent years in line with the company’s vision of building the circular economy through innovative reuse solutions. With a closed-loop reuse model, Pact Retail Accessories is enabling retailers to use their garment hangers multiple times over instead of being sent to landfill or recycled. Even those that are not suitable for reuse anymore stay in the loop because the material is used to produce new hangers.
Reusing hangers is the most sustainable model to handle garment hangers. It reduces carbon emissions by 64% when compared to new manufacture from virgin plastic, and by 52% when compared to re-manufacture from recycled plastic.
Pact Retail Accessories has already partnered with the likes of Tesco, Pep&Co and Matalan within the UK and has implemented reuse programmes which prevent millions of hangers being disposed of each year.
