Viridor and Suffolk County Council have agreed a £88.75 million renewal of the contact for the council’s mixed dry recyclate.
The 10-year contract, which covers the sorting of the recyclate through Masons Materials Recycling Facility, near Ipswich, and marketing of the material by Viridor Resource Management, begins in May.
Viridor Head of Local Authority Development Simon Prior said Viridor’s relationship with the Suffolk authorities, through the consortium and now the county council over the past two decades, will now enter the next chapter in servicing their requirements.

Together, the company and councils, have achieved significant success in maximising Suffolk’s opportunities to recycle and contribute to a more circular economy.

Each year Masons MRF processes over 55,000 tonnes of dry mixed recyclate, including paper, cardboard, plastic bottles and metal cans collected by all the Suffolk Waste Partnership authorities.
