The turnover rate of truck drivers is a historic problem the world over, as any waste management company has experienced.
Replacing drivers who know their fixed routes with drivers unfamiliar with that information – and getting them up to speed – has always been time consuming and expensive.
Any driver, any route
Technology has produced the solution. AMCS Guided Navigation is designed specifically for the industry, and it’s different from other software. It combines machine learning with human experience.
What this means is, the knowledge of experienced drivers is digitised and transferred to drivers unfamiliar with their routes. The system navigates them turn by turn.
“After recording, the route is digitally available on the in-cab devices of all other colleagues, including the less experienced ones. Waste collectors are able to drive routes more efficiently cutting back both on time and work”, says Conor Dowd, UK Sales Manager at AMCS.

“In addition to this, the quality of the waste collection improves and with that fewer bins are missed. This mitigates the risks of extra costs for an additional collection.
“At the same time, it reduces customers call-backs which prevents an unnecessary increase in the workload of the call centre.”
The Route Editor functionality allows for written and spoken driver instructions. For example, any hazards, such as roadworks or schools, can be called out to the driver along the route, so that they know what to expect and can prepare to slow down.
